Project Description
Strathearn Distillery
Strathearn is the first Scottish micro-distillery, founded in 2013 by Tony Reeman-Clark.
Gin production began in August of that year, and two months later we saw the first distillation of malted barley running from the stills.
To produce Single Malt Scotch Whisky, the distillery uses ‘Maris Otter’ barley which has been dropped by other distilleries because of its poor yield, but is what lends Strathearn’s Single Malt its specific aromas.
The whole facility fits one room: two copper ‘pot stills’ (1,000 and 500 litres respectively) as well as an open brewing vat and two stainless steel fermentation vats.
In total, the distillery produces around 30,000 litres of pure alcohol per year.
